Silk Underwear: Hand Washed or Machine Washed?

Silk is a ideal fabric for underwear because it is very light and durable. It feels almost weightless and glides effortlessly over your skin without any friction. The front and back textures are the same, soft, silky and cool to the touch. It has a shimmering face and is translucent, producing an elegant, slightly faded print. Therefore, due to the charming appearance of silk, it is best used for lingerie items such as silk panties, silk underwear, silk pajamas and silk dolls.

 

Between dry cleaning and priming, it seems that every piece of clothing we own suddenly needs its own specific set of care instructions. Interestingly, when you first read the clothing label, washing underwear by hand always seems to be the hardest task. And I said, is that true? Can't I just use the washing machine? The answer to knitting silk underwear is that technically you can do both.

When most people think of silk, they think of a super-delicate, satin, glossy, fragile fabric. While this is true of some silks, it is not true of knitted silk. Hand Washing

In an ideal environment, hand-washing all of your clothes is the answer to the longest life span of clothes. If washing by hand, we recommend using a bucket or sink with cold water, and adding one soaking water for every gallon of water. After soaking, you don't need to scrub your clothes. Just soak for 15 minutes and then gently squeeze out the water. Roll it up with a dry towel and squeeze out the water.

Machine Washing

If machine washing is your thing, you are in luck with our soft silk underwear! It is ok to machine wash on delicate with other soft/delicate articles and dry the garments on low heat. It will not compromise the integrity of the garment, but over time the garment will lose its brightness and sheen. You might also notice some slight pilling,  as you would on most articles of clothing that are put through a machine cycle. Soak wash silk panties can also be used in a machine washer.
